In our commitment to promoting our Mission of advancing collaborative learning and discovery in pursuit of improvements in the full spectrum of health in the community, the Bariatric Metabolic Institute aims to reverse the obesity epidemic through leadership in translational research. To that end, the investigators, research scientists, and research staff that comprise our multidisciplinary research team are active in the ethical conduct of bariatric science research, clinical trials, patient care and clinical outcomes analyses, and epidemiology and public health studies, with the ultimate goal of implementing community interventions for the prevention and treatment of obesity.

Discover novel physiological mechanisms and signaling pathways associated with obesity and adiposity, with particular focus on obesity-related liver injury; |

Develop our understanding of obesity through clinical research in weight management, improvement and resolution of comorbidities, and outcomes after bariatric surgery; |
